London’s Victoria and Albert Museum has released a heavyweight iPad app exploring the history of post-war theatre in Britain.

The grandly-titled Played in Britain: Modern Theatre in 100 Plays, 1945-2010 app uses the V&A’s photo collection, first-night reviews from the Guardian and Telegraph, audio interviews and video commentaries to illustrate 100 keys plays from the post-war period.

The education app costs £7.99, although a free sampler edition is also available featuring three plays.

Played in Britain is the latest in a series of apps from the V&A for iOS and Android. They include apps focused on specific exhibitions – The Cult of Beauty and Hollywood Photobooth for example – through to a V&A Calendar Tablet App to promote events at the museum, and even a children’s book-app, Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day.
